
KUCHING: The family of the late Sim Bian Chiang, who died in a road accident on April 29 while returning from work, has received support under Perkeso’s Employment Injury Scheme.
Dr Kelvin Yii, MP for Bandar Kuching and Political Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources, visited the widow, Mdm Sim Phek Hong, together with Sarawak Perkeso State Director Tan Phang Chia and members of the Skuad Perkeso Prihatin Kuching.
Sim Bian Chiang had been employed as a machine operator at Syarikat United G.I Products Sdn. Bhd. Following his passing, Perkeso officers promptly initiated the claim process, and Mdm Sim who is deaf and mute successfully submitted the required documents for the Dependant’s Benefit.
Through the scheme, she is entitled to a Funeral Benefit of RM3,000 and will receive a monthly survivor’s pension for life.
“We hope that this assistance can help ease Mdm Sim’s financial burden and support her livelihood. Despite her personal challenges, she continues to show strength and resilience. We remain committed to ensuring that no one is left behind, and that every eligible dependant receives the support they deserve, ” Yii said.
Yii added that Mdm Sim is currently helping at a relative’s hawker stall and doing her best to remain independent. During the visit, the delegation also offered prayers and paid tribute to the late Sim Bian Chiang, recognising his contribution as a hardworking member of the community.
