KUCHING: Sentosa State Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap conducted a site visit to evaluate the scope of works, costing and suitable location for a proposed futsal court under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding of RM120,000.
The visit was initiated following appeals by the village development and security committee (JKKK) on behalf of the local community for improved recreational facilities to promote youth engagement and healthy activities.
Recognizing the importance of sports in fostering community bonding and physical well-being, Yap took proactive steps to assess the feasibility of constructing a futsal court in the area.
Yap with the MBKS team discussed key aspects such as land suitability, project design, estimated costs, and potential timelines. The proposed futsal court aims to provide a safe and modern space for youths and residents to engage in sports, thereby enhancing social cohesion and encouraging an active lifestyle.
He said he understands and supports the request for a futsal court, acknowledging its value to the community, and will work closely with MBKS to ensure the project is both viable and beneficial for all residents.
The next steps include finalizing technical assessments, securing the necessary approvals, and ensuring the project complies with RTP guidelines.
