KUCHING: While weekends often mean rest and family time for most, the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching branch Youth is dedicated to serving the community every Saturday morning.
Branch Youth Chairman Nicholas Wung told Utusan Sarawak that this has become a weekly routine for their team.
Armed with two bunting displays, a group of around 10 members gathered at a selected coffee shop by 8.30 a.m. to begin their day with the mission to assist residents with various needs, many of whom are elderly.
“Most of the assistance sought are applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card, OKU status, SCHB benefits, and recently, an increasing number of SKAS applications,” said Wung.
“We also receive requests for help regarding drainage issues and legal consultations. Our aim is to help each and every person who approaches us,” he said.
The mobile service initiative is carried out every weekend by different SUPP branches across Sarawak, showcasing the party’s commitment to community outreach.
