KUCHING: As the Year of the Snake draws near, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian has once again embraced the tradition of signing and sending 5,000 personalized Chinese New Year (CNY) greeting cards.
This meaningful practice, passed down from his late father, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong, reflects his deep commitment to family, culture, and values.
In an age dominated by digital communication, Dr. Sim remains steadfast in his belief in the significance of physical greeting cards, which he feels carry a more personal and heartfelt touch.
“When you take the time to send a card, it’s more than just a message; it’s a symbol of respect and connection,” he shared his thoughts with Utusan Sarawak.
Dr. Sim makes it a point to sign the cards during his free moments, even while traveling between functions to ensure the cards are delivered on time before Chinese new year.
He also reached out to his social media friends that should they want a card, they can always alert him. Dr. Sim added that he does send digital greetings to friends too.
