KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Secretary-General Datuk Sebastian Ting stated that religious harmony in Sarawak is not just a slogan but is demonstrated through concrete actions by the state government.

He pointed out that the establishment of the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) is the strongest proof of this commitment.

“Since its inception, UNIFOR has channelled over RM556.5 million, of which RM475 million went towards the construction and repair of religious institutions, while RM90 million was allocated for the development and improvement of mission schools.

For this year alone, the Sarawak Government allocated RM111 million, with RM90 million dedicated to upgrading religious premises and RM20 million for mission schools,” Ting added.

Sarawak, he said has been able to preserve mutual respect and tolerance among different religions and ethnicities because of the government’s continuous efforts to promote harmony.

“Here in Sarawak, we can gather at a temple, regardless of faith, to celebrate through music and fellowship. This is one of the most beautiful aspects of our state,” he said.

Ting also encouraged participants of the karaoke singing competition to showcase their talents with confidence and spread positive energy through their voices, while reminding everyone to value both physical and mental well-being in daily life.

He stressed that Sarawak’s harmonious atmosphere is a source of pride, and with UNIFOR’s efforts and government support, this harmony will continue to flourish.
