KUCHING: Samarahan Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing telecommunications equipment and possessing drugs during a crime prevention patrol in Kota Samarahan on Monday.
Samarahan police chief, Superintendent Damataries Lautin, said the arrest was made after the Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit received information from a member of the public about a suspicious man detained at the Sacofa Tower in Sungai Jernang, Kota Samarahan.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the MPV team conducted a search of the suspect’s vehicle and found six stolen cable leader components believed to have been taken from the Sacofa Tower,” he said.
Damataries added that police instructed the suspect to surrender any illegal items in his possession. The man voluntarily handed over a transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substances suspected to be methamphetamine (Syabu) weighing 2.80 grams, and another packet containing nine Erimin 5 pills weighing 2.55 grams, both retrieved from his right front pocket.
The suspect was subsequently re-arrested, and all seized items were taken to the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation.
