KUCHING: Kota Sentosa Assemblyman Wilfred Yap conducted a final inspection of the completed Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project at BEM Satria Jaya Church in BDC, together with officers from the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

The RM50,000 project under the N.12 Kota Sentosa RTP allocation involved upgrading the church’s facilities, including the fabrication and installation of new cabinets, a professional public address (PA) system with console mixer, stage monitor, speakers, digital sound setup, and a new community notice board.

Yap expressed satisfaction that the project was completed according to specifications and within the approved timeline, commending the contractor Kejuruteraan AUM Sdn Bhd and MBKS for their close cooperation and quality workmanship.

“This project is part of our ongoing effort to uplift community facilities that serve not just as places of worship but also as important gathering points for the local community,” he said.

He added that the RTP initiative ensures development funding directly benefits the people and improves the quality of life in Kota Sentosa. “BEM Satria Jaya plays a vital role in fostering unity, moral values, and social well-being, and I am pleased to see this project completed to a high standard,” he said.

Yap said such grassroots development reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to equitable growth and ensuring all communities, regardless of background, enjoy tangible improvements in local infrastructure.

He also thanked MBKS officers for their continued support in coordinating RTP projects and ensuring public funds are used effectively and responsibly.

“As your elected representative, I will continue to work closely with MBKS, community leaders and religious institutions to identify and prioritise projects that meet local needs. Together, we will continue building a better and more cohesive Kota Sentosa,” he said.

The completed BEM Satria Jaya project will now serve as a more functional venue for community activities, religious services and youth programmes, marking another step toward Yap’s vision of a caring and progressive Kota Sentosa.
