KUCHING: The Gawai and Father’s Day celebration at Kampung Bumbok was made more meaningful with the announcement of development assistance for a local school.
During the event, Member of Parliament for Stampin, who was the guest of honour, announced a total allocation of RM230,000 for SK St David, located near the village.
He said an allocation of RM120,000 will be used to purchase nine smart TVs for classrooms, supporting the digitalisation agenda of the Ministry of Education.
Chong noted that although the Ministry’s budget is insufficient to equip all schools with digital tools, he is complementing it using his MP’s allocation to benefit the students.
“Even though the MP’s allocation for Stampin is less than 20 percent of the total funds received by GPS assemblymen within the Stampin constituency, I will continue to do my best for my constituents, especially in the area of education,” he said.
The second part of the allocation involves RM110,000 for upgrading the football field at SK St David.
“This amount was applied for under the Ministry of Youth and Sports last year and was approved this year, with the Padawan Municipal Council appointed as the implementation agency. We will continue to monitor the implementation closely to avoid delays,” he added.
