KUCHING: The Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) has received a new refrigerator to store essential medication, following an urgent request to ensure treatments are preserved under optimal conditions.
Special Assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, Michael Kong 43 said the equipment is vital for patient safety.
“We were informed by the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology of their urgent need for a refrigerator to store medication under optimal conditions. This equipment is critical to ensure that life-saving treatments are properly preserved and safely administered to patients,” he said.
Kong said DAP acted quickly to assist.
“Upon learning of this need, DAP immediately arranged to source a new refrigerator for the department.
“We are pleased that during this time, two individuals stepped up to contribute towards this cause. With their support, we were able to hand over the new refrigerator to support the hospital in carrying out its vital work,” he added.
He stressed that while providing sufficient resources is the government’s responsibility, community members and elected representatives must also step in whenever necessary.
“The health and well-being of Sarawakians must always come first. Together, we can contribute towards a stronger, more responsive healthcare system that truly meets the needs of the people,” Kong said.
