KUCHING: Police are appealing for information on a car accident that occurred at Jalan Matang near Kubah Ria around 6.40pm on 10 September.

Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said a BMW i7 xDrive60 lost control, struck a concrete divider, veered across lanes and crashed into a river.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was taken to Sarawak General Hospital, while the front passenger, in his 40s, was brought to Gita Police Station. A rear passenger fled the scene.

ACP Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 44(1A)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged witnesses to contact SM Hamdan Marali at 013-8452684, the Kuching BSPTD hotline at 082-259900, or the nearest police station.
