KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has officially opened registration for the highly anticipated Padawan Raft Safari 2025, set to take place on 5 October 2025.

This annual eco-adventure promises an exciting bamboo rafting and kayaking experience along the scenic Sungai Sarawak Kiri, passing through some of Padawan’s most picturesque and culturally rich villages.

In a statement issued, MPP stated that this year’s event features multiple race categories, with starting points at Kampung Annah Rais, Kampung Timurang, Kampung Danu, and Kampung Semadang. All routes will end at Kampung Git.

Participants can look forward to discovering the unspoiled natural beauty of the area and experiencing the warmth and charm of local village life.

Now officially part of the newly launched Borneo Raft Safari series, the event aims to promote rafting culture and eco-tourism across the island. Beyond the competitive spirit, the safari also supports community-based tourism, giving participants a chance to enjoy homestays, traditional hospitality, and serene picnic spots near natural waterfalls.

To ensure safety and smooth coordination, MPP is working closely with key agencies including the Sarawak Rivers Board and the Sarawak Forestry Corporation.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Siburan) will serve as the official water safety marshal. Traffic will be managed by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), with assistance from RELA and MPP enforcement personnel, while the Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarawak will provide emergency response support.
