KUCHING: Sarawak Commercial Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak announced the launch of the Saujana–King Centre route, the latest addition to the SBST Kuching network.
It’s Chairman, Michael Kong said this new route marked a key milestone as the fourth under the SBST Kuching programme, furthering our commitment to building a more connected, accessible, and efficient public transport system for all.

He said the route will serve several residential neighbourhoods, including Jalan Rubber, Jalan Poh Kwong Park, Jalan Stapok, RPR Batu Kawah, and Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho. It will also provide access to important destinations such as Sarawak General Hospital, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Timberland Medical Centre, The Spring, Boulevard, SJK Chung Hua Batu 4½, and Sunny Hill.
To improve service quality, King added that LPKP Sarawak has directed the operator to increase bus frequency during weekday peak hours—between 6.00 am and 7.00 am, and 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm—with buses running every 30 minutes. This move is aimed at better serving working adults, students, and the general public.
“We are encouraged by the rising number of commuters using our existing SBST Kuching routes,” said Michael Kong Feng Nian, Chairman of LPKP Sarawak. “With this new route and improved accessibility into key residential and commercial areas, we hope more members of the public will view public transport as a convenient option—not just for commuting to work, but also for daily errands, school runs, and attending appointments,” he said.
An additional six routes are currently in development and will be rolled out in the coming weeks to further serve the public.
