KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) will be holding its Buy Back Campaign for recycled items, electrical and electronic waste (B.E.E.), collection of used cooking oil, and donation of used clothing at the parking area in front of MPP Pitcher Plant Garden, Mile 10 on Saturday, 18 October 2025, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
MPP Chairman Cr. Tan Kai said the event is jointly organised with various agencies and NGOs, including the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak, Department of Environment (DOE), DNS Waste Management Sdn Bhd, Kim Huang Enterprise, and the Tzu Chi Foundation Kuching.
“The Buy Back Campaign aims to reduce solid waste while raising public awareness on the importance of waste segregation to minimise landfill use and curb environmental pollution,” he said.
Tan Kai encouraged residents to participate by bringing their recyclable items for the buy-back programme or donating their used clothing for a good cause.
“This campaign is part of MPP’s continuous effort and commitment to building a cleaner, greener, and healthier Padawan,” he said, adding that the initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Good Health and Well-Being, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Partnership for the Goals.
For more information, he said the public can visit MPP’s official Facebook page (Majlis Perbandaran Padawan).
