
KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed on the spot while his pillion rider sustained light injuries in a two-vehicle collision at KM14 Jalan Kota Samarahan/Tabuan Jaya early Friday morning.
Samarahan District Police Chief Supt Damataries Lautin said the incident occurred at about 12.33 am and involved a car and a motorcycle.
“Initial investigations found that the car, driven by a 21-year-old man, was heading from Kuching towards Taman Samarindah.
When the driver proceeded through a green light at the KM14 traffic junction, his car was suddenly hit on the right side by the Yamaha motorcycle coming from the right,” said Damateries.
The motorcyclist, 30, from Kampung Rebak, Asajaya, died at the scene due to severe injuries, while his pillion rider, 24, from Kampung Tambirat Hilir, sustained minor injuries.The car driver sustained minor injury.
The remains of the deceased was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital’s morgue for a post mortem.
Damateries said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
