KUCHING: Special Assistant to Chong Chieng Jen, Michael Kong has called on the Kuching Water Board (KWB) to act swiftly on a suspected underground water pipe leakage at Lorong 15, Jalan Stampin, which has caused ongoing soil erosion and poses a threat to the safety of nearby residents.
During a visit to the affected residence earlier today, Michael observed clear signs of water seeping from the ground, consistent with what appears to be a continuous leak from an underground pipe. The situation has reportedly been ongoing for some time.
He said the homeowners had lodged a report with KWB around two months ago and followed up again a month later, but no meaningful action has been taken so far.
They are understandably anxious as the soil erosion is worsening and could compromise the structural safety of their home.
Kong said it is an urgent issue that cannot be left unresolved any longer as delays will only lead to further damage to the private property and surrounding infrastructure as well.
“I’ve already contacted KWB and strongly urge them to immediately investigate and repair the suspected leakage before the situation deteriorates further,” he added.
Kong reminded that public service agencies must respond promptly and act efficiently in cases like this, and he urged KWB to take the matter seriously.
“We hope KWB will dispatch their team without further delay. Residents deserve timely and effective solutions, especially when their safety is at stake.”
