KUCHING: A local man in his 60s, who works as a company executive in Bintulu invested RM 600,000 in a scam investment and can only withdraw RM441 from the investment platform.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata disclosed that the victim had come across an online investment opportunity in early March 2025 while browsing the internet at home. He was drawn to a foreign exchange investment promoted by a company through the website link https://www.jpm-vip1.com/vip.
“After clicking on the link, the victim was connected to an unknown individual claiming to be a representative of J.P. Morgan. The suspect instructed the victim to download an application via another link, https://www.jpm-vip3.com, and proceeded to convince him to invest on the so-called J.P. Morgan platform,” Dato Mancha said in a statement.
Deceived by the suspect’s tactics, the victim ended up making multiple transactions in stages into bank accounts provided by the scammer, totaling approximately RM600,000.
“The victim only realised he had been duped when the suspect continued to demand further payments in order for him to withdraw his supposed profits,” Mancha said.
He then lodged a police report. The case is currently under investigation.
