
BAU: Bau police arrested a 29-year-old man was arrested during a narcotics operation (Op Tapis) conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division near the roadside of Kampung Stenggang around 11.30 am today.
Bau police chief, DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the suspect from Kampung Stenggang and currently unemployed attempted to flee but was successfully apprehended by the police.
Upon inspection, he said police found 10 small transparent plastic packets containing white crystalline substances, believed to be syabu, hidden in the front pocket of his jeans.

Preliminary urine tests showed the suspect tested positive for drugs. The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Dr Daram added that the total weight of the seized drugs was 5.40 grams, with an estimated street value of RM540.
A remand application will be submitted for further investigation.
He also stated that the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division will continue to carry out operations in suspected drug activity areas and called on the public to cooperate by providing information to help combat drug-related issues in the Bau district.
