KUCHING: The MADANI Government has once again demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of Malaysians by announcing a reduction in the RON95 petrol price to RM1.99 per litre, effective 30 September 2025.
This follows closely on the heels of the SARA RM100 assistance, providing further relief to households amid rising living costs.
Pending Assemblywoman, Violet Yong said the petrol price cut is particularly meaningful for Sarawak.
“Our vast state still lacks reliable public transport, and most residents depend on private vehicles for work, schooling, healthcare and daily errands. Lower fuel costs bring immediate relief to households facing long travel distances and higher transport expenses,” she said.
She said the last time RON95 petrol was priced at RM1.99 was in March 2020, during a brief collapse in global oil prices. Achieving the same level now, despite a challenging economic climate, underscores the MADANI Government’s focus on practical, people-centred policies.
Yong added that the measures send a strong signal of responsible governance, highlighting the administration’s commitment to addressing public concerns and safeguarding household purchasing power.
