KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang has questioned the unity claims made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the recent Madani Government retreat in Port Dickson, citing what he described as ongoing attacks by DAP Sarawak against Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
Lo when contacted by Utusan Sarawak said while the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for GPS leaders and credited the coalition’s strength to unity among its partners, such unity appears questionable when DAP Sarawak continues to criticise GPS openly.
He pointed to the public apology made in January 2023 by DAP leaders Anthony Loke and Lim Guan Eng in Sarawak, who pledged to reset ties and cooperate with GPS. However, Lo said their actions since then have contradicted that apology.
“If that apology had been sincere, DAP would have stepped back and allowed Sarawak-based parties to lead. Instead, they wear one face on Monday to apologise and another on Friday to attack. That’s not sincerity. That’s performance,” he said.
Lo stressed that Sarawak leaders are open to working with others, but only if it is based on mutual respect and not political manipulation.
He called on DAP Sarawak to honour their public commitments and urged the federal leadership to ensure that political allies act consistently with the spirit of unity they often promote.
