

DRUG peddlers and drug addicts picked up in various parts of Kuching.
KUCHING: Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that a week-long operation resulted in the arrest of 70 individuals for various drug-related offences.
He said Kuching District Police Headquarters successfully carried out a special anti-narcotics operation, ‘Ops Tapis Khas Narkotik,’ from October 13 to 20 targeting drug distribution and abuse activities around Kuching.
“During the operation, seven individuals were arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, 64 individuals under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, while one person was charged under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
Alexson added that several types of drugs were seized during the operation, including 1.89 grams of methamphetamine, 0.54 grams of ketamine, and 0.50 grams of Erimin 5 pills, with an estimated total value of RM369.40.

“All suspects have been brought to the Kuching Court and charged according to their respective offences,” he said, adding that the success was the result of continuous intelligence work and cooperation from the public.
“Police will not compromise with anyone involved in drug distribution. Possessing, trafficking, or protecting drug activities are serious offences under the law,” he stressed.
Alexson also assured that the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department remains committed to fighting drugs to protect the current and future generations.
