KUCHING: A viral image claiming to show a U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bomber flying over a longhouse in Saratok, Sarawak, has triggered investigations by multiple authorities.

The image, originally posted by a Reddit user known as Anubiroz and later picked up by Malay Mail, appears to show an aircraft resembling the B-2 bomber. However, the authenticity of the image has yet to be verified.

Saratok District Police Chief DSP Mathew ak Maggie said preliminary observations suggest the aircraft in the photo does resemble a B-2 bomber in flight, but authorities are working to determine its legitimacy.

He said the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) is collaborating with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate whether there has been an airspace breach or the spread of false information that could cause public panic.

“The investigation is ongoing to verify the image, including identifying the exact location where it was taken, the person who uploaded it, and the motive behind its dissemination,” said Mathew.

He stressed that the police will not compromise with any individual or group found to be spreading false information or inciting public anxiety via social media.

The public is urged not to speculate or continue sharing the image online. DSP Mathew reminded that anyone found spreading false or unverified information may be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He urged anyone with further information is encouraged to assist in the investigation by contacting the Saratok District Police Chief directly at 012-8854849.
