TAN Kai witnesses the installation of CCTV and camera.

KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Chairman Tan Kai said the first solar-powered CCTV pole and camera have been installed along Jalan Batu Kawa following recent flying stone incidents in the area.

He said despite the arrest of a suspect by police, similar incidents have continued to occur, raising public concern.

“After several days of discussions with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Public Works Department (JKR), CCTV contractor, and the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), we have taken this proactive step to improve surveillance in the area,” he said.

He thanked all the agencies involved, including PDRM Padawan, the CCTV contractor for contributing a new AI-enabled CCTV system under their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, SMA for granting a licence exemption due to the urgency, and JKR for their support.
