
KUCHING: A 22-year-old local woman, has been detained to assist in a fatal accident after her car collided into a motorcycle.
Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the motorcyclist was confirmed dead at the scene while the pillion rider, a 21-year-old local woman, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
He added that the accident involving a Perodua Alza MPV and a Yamaha motorcycle occurred on Jalan Green, Kuching at midnight yesterday.
From preliminary investigations, Alexson revealed that the accident happened when the MPV, traveling from Jalan Stapok towards the Waterfront, lost control, veered into the opposite lane, and collided with a motorcycle coming from the Jalan Green direction.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He also advised all road users to exercise caution and always comply with traffic laws to ensure their safety and that of others.
