KUCHING: Chairman of LPKP Sarawak, Michael Kong confirmed enforcement action was taken against a lorry driver after a video showing a vehicle transporting a container in violation of road safety regulations went viral on social media.
Upon being alerted to the incident, the matter was immediately referred to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak for further investigation and action.
Kong said JPJ Sarawak later confirmed that the lorry driver had committed three offences, for which compounds were issued. The offences include transporting a protruding load, driving with an open tailboard, and carrying an unauthorised load.
“We thank the public for their concern and for bringing this issue to our attention. This case clearly shows how public vigilance and cooperation can play a significant role in enhancing road safety enforcement,” he added.
He also urged members of the public to continue working with the authorities to promote a safer and more responsible driving environment for all road users.
