Dialogue session held between Deputy Sarawak Police Commissioner and secondhand goods licensees

KUCHING: Deputy Sarawak Police Commissioner, DCP Saifullizaan Ishak advised and urged all secondhand goods licensees to understand and carry out their responsibilities in preventing the entry of stolen or illegal goods into the secondhand market. 

In a dialogue session this morning, Saifullizan stressed that cooperation from all stakeholders is vital in reducing property-related crimes. 

The dialogue was held at the Senior Officers’ Mess Hall at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Sarawak) Attended by secondhand goods licensees from the Kuching and Padawan districts.

Speaking at the event, DCP Saifullizan said the engagement aimed to foster better two-way communication between law enforcement and business operators to ensure more effective implementation of existing policies and regulations.

He added that the operators should adhere to strict documentation procedures and proper record-keeping of all purchases and sales of used goods which is key to ensuring transparency and curbing criminal activities linked to stolen property.

Also present were Deputy Head of Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Lim Bak Phai, Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu Padawan District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi Sarawak Licensing Officer, DSP Sapbirina Yusup along with representatives from DBKU and the licensed business community.

There were 75 persons from various second hand dealers at the event with 20 police officers and rank and file.
