KUCHING: DAPSY Sarawak described the gathering, which took place in front of the premises where the national flag was allegedly displayed incorrectly, as an act of intimidation towards the shop owner, who had already issued a public apology. The group said the matter is still under police investigation.
They claimed Dr Akmal’s actions interfered with the investigation and risked stirring racial tensions.
According to DAPSY Sarawak, the march created unnecessary conflict, generated fear, and put pressure on the business owner, who had been cooperating with authorities.
The organisation also accused Dr Akmal of using the incident for political gain by appealing to divisive sentiments, warning that such conduct could undermine national unity and public order.
DAPSY Sarawak urged the authorities to take firm action, saying failure to do so could set a dangerous precedent for similar acts of provocation in the future.
The police report was lodged at Padungan Police Station and led by DAPSY Sarawak secretary George Lam today.
