KUCHING: SK Temenggong emerged as the champion of the ‘Love Our Environment’ competition, organised by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), with a creative project made from recycled materials. The school received a certificate and a cash prize of RM300 during the prize-giving ceremony held at MPP today.

In the primary school category, SJK Chung Hua Sungai Moyan secured second place, followed by SK Matang in third. SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang came in fourth, while SJK Chung Hua Sungai Lubak and SJK Chung Hua Kim Choo Seng placed fifth and sixth respectively.

SM Sains team grabbed No 1 in secondary category.

Meanwhile, SM Sains took the top spot in the secondary school category, winning RM500 in cash along with other prizes. SMK Jalan Arang was placed second, SMK Matang Hilir third, and SM Sains Kuching Utara fourth.

This year’s annual competition attracted the participation of 20 schools, including four secondary schools. Among the highlights was a striking, colourful bird sculpture made entirely of recycled plastic bottles by SK Landeh, which drew much admiration but did not make it into the winners’ list.
