KUCHING: Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that a police report was received on July 20 from a 32-year-old local man regarding an incident in which the window of his vehicle was smashed at Jalan Central Timur, Kuching.

The incident occurred at around 6.20am. The complainant, who was working as a marshal for a running event, had parked his car by the roadside at the event location when an unknown man suddenly approached his vehicle, picked up a stone, and threw it at the front windshield, causing significant damage.

“Acting on public tip-offs, our police team managed to track down and arrest the suspect, a 52-year-old local man, nearby shortly after the incident,” said Alexson.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage of more than RM25, which carries a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

“We are still conducting further investigations into the motive and background of the suspect,” he said.

Alexson also called on members of the public who may have more information related to the case to contact the Kuching District Police Headquarters Control Centre at 082-244444 or reach out directly to the investigating officer, Sergeant Sudianta Deya bt Johanis, at 019-8492500.
