KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has responded swiftly to a report concerning potholes on the access road leading to SK Jalan Arang, said Padawan Municipal Council Chairman, Tan Kai.
A complaint, submitted by the school’s headmaster, Cikgu Edward Peter Bajat, was received via the MPP Hotline at 9.09am on Wednesday, 7 May 2025.
Tan Kai said following the report, MPP Resident Councillors and officers from the Engineering Division carried out an on-site inspection. A maintenance schedule has since been prepared to facilitate necessary repair works. On the same day, MPP’s LA Serve team acted quickly to implement temporary patching of the potholes to ensure road safety.
However, Tan Kai voiced concern over attempts by certain quarters to politicize the matter. He stressed that the focus should remain on addressing community issues constructively.
“It is disheartening to see some individuals or groups including political parties and even members of the public choosing to distort the situation for their own agendas instead of working together to resolve the problem,” he said. “Local governance should be about finding solutions, not creating unnecessary controversy.”
Tan Kai urged residents to channel concerns directly to MPP through official platforms for effective follow-up. He assured that all public complaints will be documented and acted upon accordingly.
