
KUCHING: A total of 21,856 vehicles were inspected, and action was taken against 2,790 vehicles, resulting in the issuance of 4,098 non-compliance notices for various offenses during the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak Chinese New Year Special Ops (TBC).
In a statement on its Facebook page, JPJ Sarawak reported that 13 vehicles of various types were seized for committing offenses under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).
The operation was conducted simultaneously from January 20, 2025, to February 9, 2025.
The main objective of the TBC Special Ops was to monitor, detect, and take action against road users who failed to comply with road regulations under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and its associated rules, as well as the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334) and the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715).
Additionally, the operation aimed to reduce road accidents, particularly fatal ones, in line with the United Nations (UN) Conference Resolution 74/299 (August 31, 2020), which targets a 50 percent reduction in road accident fatalities and injuries by 2030.
JPJ reiterated that it would not compromise on road safety and remains committed to stricter enforcement actions against road offenders who fail to comply with traffic laws and regulations.
JPJ Sarawak also expressed gratitude to all agencies and departments involved in making Special Ops TBC 2025 a success.
The department urged all road users to adhere to traffic laws and regulations at all times.
