KUCHING: The Special Aide to the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, who is also the Member of Parliament for Sarikei and State Assemblyman for Repok, Wong Zee Yeng, lodged a police report at the Sarikei Police Station earlier today.
According to a ststement in Huang’s FB account, Wong stated that the report was made following the circulation of false and defamatory statements on Facebook, which she claims have tarnished the reputation of YB Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii.
The slander was related to the recent murder of two Sibu men who were shot to death in Kuala Lumpur.
“I urge the police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and other relevant agencies to take firm action against the owner of the Facebook account involved,” she said after lodging the report.
Wong stressed that stern action is necessary to curb the spread of slander and to ensure that social media platforms are not misused to smear the dignity of leaders.
