KUCHING: A total of 140 outstanding students were honoured with the 2024 SPM Excellence Awards by Bandar Kuching parliamentary service centre yesterday, in recognition of their excellent performance in the national examination.
MP for Bandar Kuching, Dr Kelvin Yii, said this marks the fourth consecutive year his office has implemented the initiative to support and encourage high-performing students within the constituency.
“This year, we saw an overwhelming response with a growing number of applications. After a thorough vetting process, 140 students were confirmed to have met the eligibility criteria and received the award,” he said.
Among the award recipients, 10 students scored 11 A’s, 30 achieved 10 A’s, 24 obtained 9 A’s, 28 earned 8 A’s, 22 received 7 A’s, and 17 secured 6 A’s.
Dr Yii explained that the awards are part of an education-focused programme funded by the constituency’s service centre, aimed at promoting academic excellence and recognising students’ dedication and hard work.
“We hope these students will continue to strive for excellence in their academic and professional journeys, honour the sacrifices of their parents, and uphold the spirit of lifelong learning. I also encourage them to give back to society and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development,” he added.
